privacy and cookies

this notice explains what personal information hinter collects when you visit hinter.com, book a stay, join, or buy from the shop — how it is used, who receives it, and the choices you have.

last updated: october 2026

information we collect

  • contact details: name, email, phone and billing address.
  • stay details: dates, space, guest count, requests and stay history.
  • payment records: amounts, dates and status. card numbers are held by stripe, never by us.
  • account details: sign-in email, saved spaces, held dates and private notes.
  • membership and shop orders, including gift cards.
  • device information: browser, ip address, pages viewed — through cookies, below.

how we use it

  • to take, confirm and manage reservations, payments and orders.
  • to run your account and membership.
  • to reply to enquiries and send stay information.
  • to send news, only if you subscribe. every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • to measure and improve the site and our advertising, with your consent where required.
  • to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and prevent fraud.

who receives it

we do not sell personal information. we share it only with the service providers that help us run hinter — for payments, reservations, email and hosting — and, where cookies are accepted, with advertising measurement partners. we may also disclose information when required by law.

cookies

cookies are small files stored in your browser. hinter.com uses two kinds:

  • essential — keep you signed in, hold your booking in progress and remember your cookie choice. these are always on.
  • marketing — the meta pixel measures which ads lead to visits and bookings. it shares pages viewed, browser details, ip address and booking value with meta. it never receives your name or email.

in the eu, eea, uk and switzerland marketing cookies run only if you accept. elsewhere they run unless you decline. you can change your choice at any time, or block cookies in your browser settings.

retention and security

we keep information for as long as needed to provide our services and meet legal obligations, then delete it. access is limited to the people who need it, and data is encrypted in transit.

international transfers

our providers may process information outside your country, including in canada, the united states and the eu, under appropriate safeguards.

your rights

you may ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to or limit its use, withdraw consent, or receive a copy. you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
